With mobile traffic on the rise and two teams charging towards the same goal, six colleagues and I started a side project in November of 2015 to rebuild Target.com.
The goal of the effort was to create a scalable, responsive experience that would be future proof of a new digital platform while unifying the mobile and desktop experiences of Target.com.
My work included parody documentation and wireframes of experiences from legacy to new. Visual style guides and design systems architecture for a scalable component framework. And, most importantly, a straight forward guest experience to enable hassle free shopping.
The team was comprised of a scrum master, two product owners, one technical architect, one front-end developer and myself. Therefor, before the team grew, I played the role of information architect and visual designer.
My reponsibilities included:
Creating user centered design practices and documentation
Strong executive presence, facilitation, and communication skills with ability to present in a variety of settings to teams and senior leadership
Exceptional active listening, critical thinking, and presentation skills to facilitate decision making
The result is a React-platform with adaptive components in a responsive framework powered by a design system that brings cohesiveness and performant experiences to life.
